Commercial Carpet Installation for Arundel Theatre

Smyth Carpets recently completed this commercial carpet installation at Arundel Theatre, located in the grounds of Arundel Cathedral.

This was a more unusual project, carried out within a listed building with several challenging areas to work around. The installation included the main bar and circulation spaces, staircases, landings and theatre access areas.

The finished grey carpet provides a clean, practical and hardwearing surface throughout the building, while keeping the overall look smart and consistent.

The Brief

The theatre needed new carpet fitted across a range of busy areas, including concrete staircases and spaces with beams, trims and different room shapes.

As a listed building, the project required a careful approach. The team needed to work around the existing structure, protect the character of the space and deliver a neat finish across both open areas and more detailed sections.

Invisible joins were also an important part of the brief, particularly where the carpet needed to be fitted across multiple areas and around beams.

Our Approach

We used a double stick Duralay system to provide a secure, professional installation suitable for a commercial setting.

The team carefully fitted the carpet across the concrete staircases, landings and main floor areas, making precise cuts around the beams and awkward details. Multiple joins were completed as discreetly as possible to create a smooth, continuous finish throughout the space.

Despite the challenges of the building and the amount of detailed fitting required, the full installation was completed in one day by the Smyth Carpets team.

The Result

The finished carpet gives Arundel Theatre a fresh, professional and more comfortable feel throughout its public and working areas.

The grey carpet works well with the red walls, white panelling and traditional features of the building, creating a practical finish without taking away from the character of the theatre.
